Plan Your Visit

New to climbing or getting back into it? You’re in the right place.

Public drop-in

Public drop-ins are a great way to try out climbing in a fun, casual environment!

During drop-ins, staff will be available to guide you through your climbing experience with a quick 10-minute orientation, after which you will be free to climb and hang out in the gym.

We provide all the climbing gear; all you need to bring are a pair of socks for the rental shoes or your own clean, indoor shoes. Bring some water, too; it’s hard work!

All ages are welcome! However, children under the age of 13 must be supervised by an adult.

Day Pass

Drop-in climbing passes can be purchased at the BSRC guest services desk for $10.25.

All climbing gear (shoes, harness, etc.) is included in the day pass.

Types of climbing

Auto-Belays

Auto-belays are a great tool to get climbing on your own! The machine takes in slack as you ascend the wall and catches you when you let go. No experience is necessary; we’ll show you how to use them during your facility orientation.

Children under 13 must be supervised on the auto-belays by an adult who’s completed an orientation.

Top Rope

Top rope climbing uses ropes running through an anchor at the top of the wall and a belayer on the ground. As the climber ascends, the belayer takes in slack to keep the rope snug in case of a fall.

If you find yourself enjoying climbing, sign up for a belay lesson and learn how to get on the ropes on your own!

Bouldering

Bouldering involves height-limited climbing without ropes. Because there are no ropes, boulder routes or "problems" often trend side to side and not just straight up and down. Many people enjoy bouldering on its own because it can be done without a partner. Our bouldering room has a variety of problems ranging from beginner (V1) to advanced (V5+).
